Dixie Firefighters Association Paul Banse Scholarship Foundation

The intent of the scholarship program is to help Dixie Firefighters Association (DFFA)members and their family members, achieve higher education (college, vocational, special training, etc.) and to provide a mechanism to financially assist members that wish to attend in or out of state training programs related to their field of service by helping with tuition and travel cost.
Applications are available from the DFFA Secretary, at meetings or downloaded from the DFFA web site at http://www.dixiefirefighters.com/.
Higher Education Scholarship Requirements
1.     Be a member, or a dependent member, of a fire department, emergency services related agency, or an agriculture educational program (FFA, etc.)  in good standing with the DFFA.
2.    Show proof of grade point average of at least 2.0 for last college semester, “C” for most recent high school semester, or 45 on GED.
3.    Fill out the entire application completely and submit application in person at a regular DFFA meeting, (the date and time of which can be found on the DFFA web site)
4.    DFFA has two award periods and may award more than one scholarship during each of the following periods:
Spring Semester        -    Turn in application not later than September meeting for award at the January meeting.
Fall Semester     -    Turn in application not later than May meeting for award at the July meeting.
5.    If you are selected to receive a DFFA scholarship, you must attend in person, the appropriate award meeting listed in paragraph 4.
6.    Award checks will be made payable to the institution you will be attending. Proof of enrollment, (receipt for tuition, receipts for books, etc.) must be provided prior to check being issued.  In addition, those receiving a scholarship SHALL submit letter, to the DFFA Secretary, that they received a scholarship from DFFA (financial audit requirement).  This can be accomplished at the award meeting.

Service Related Requirements
1.     Be a member, or a dependent member, of a fire department, emergency services related agency, or an agriculture educational program (FFA, etc.)  in good standing with the DFFA.
2.    Show proof that the training will benefit the community where the individual serves.
3.    If individual member of DFFA, the DFFA board must verify membership in good standing.
THE COMMITTEE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DISQUALIFY ANY APPLICANT
The number of and/or the amount of scholarship(s) will be determined at the discretion of the DFFA Board Scholarship Committee.  The decision of the Committee, after approval of the DFFA Board is final.  Failure to provide all required information on or attached to your application will result in your disqualification from the scholarship period be applied to. Not receiving a scholarship applied for does not disqualify you from applying to future scholarship periods.  Falsifying information on and/or attached to application will result in disqualification.  DFFA reserves the right to disqualify any candidate for reason.
